In 2017, he was convicted of felony vandalism. While in jail, Edwards was charged with deliberately spitting on two Davidson County Sheriff’s deputies, for which he was convicted on two counts of assault. Edwards, who has been in Nashville since 2016, has had run-ins with the law previously, according to court records. He was carrying an Arkansas driver’s license with a Little Rock address.
Thoughts do turn to why. Was it poverty? Does poverty make people take a machete to others? The choice of weapon and the Islamic community Edwards comes from does ask if the community has part responsibility. We won’t even get into the issue of race. The real point here is that there is a growing attempt to blend Coronavirus response policy protests with violence or even terrorists.
We have seen this phenomenon before. For example, these headlines:
- People Protesting Coronavirus Lockdown Orders Are Terrorists
- The Extremists And Grifters Behind Many Of The Anti-Lockdown Protests
- “The View” Co-Host Joy Behar Likens Lockdown Protests to Terrorism
Now juxtapose this incident in Tennessee with what a real Coronavirus lockdown protest looks like. Peaceful protests of lockdown protesters that want reopen America to enable commerce to continue to keep America strong during these troubling crisis times are not the same. Yes, people are frustrated, but you don’t pick up a machete and start hacking people. The picture is very different.
Right Wire Report has reported extensively about peace protests asking for redress of their government – click here, here and here. One should not confuse real patriot actions with an incident like this. Hats off to the first responders in reacting quickly to this event, and we wish well a successful, speedy recovery to the Knoxville, TN Craft family.
