The Impertinence and Audacity of Erick Erickson

Self-described as a Conservative and evangelical, the blogger, radio host, cable political contributor, and former RedState CEO, Erick Erickson is now adding a brand new descriptive title to his resume. Erickson now fancies himself as a campaign strategist or more aptly put President Trump’s new 2020 Campaign Consigliere.

Erickson revealed this impudent declaration by writing in his online blog, The Resurgent, a letter to the President of The United States. The piece is titled, Can Someone get this to the President? Please?” What follows are paragraphs dripping of condescension and sheer arrogance, which has become the hallmark of Erickson’s “Conservative “record. The title perfectly illustrates his sense of entitlement and audacity many on the right have come to expect over the last decade.

Before reviewing the dressing down of a president “letter,” let us all take a walk down memory lane. Erick Erickson, this is your life kind of jaunt!

Prior to Trump running for the presidency, Erickson was a paid political contributor on Cable News CNN, from 2010 through 2013. During this stint, he ingratiated himself as the “token conservative” frequently attacking other Republican elected officials on cue from the CNN host. It was not long after parting ways with CNN, Erick began showing up on Fox News as a contributor pretty much engaging in the same wishy-washy, giveth, and taketh away praise, never met a conservative as good as me, and up to my standards schtick. Controversy gravitated towards him, dare we say by design.

Here he is May 2016 on Fox lying about what Candidate Trump’s positions were on many issues and declaring himself not a Republican.

Erickson became the darling of the Never Trumper cabal and was instantly placed on the liberals’ list of acceptable republicans. He bellowed for anyone who would listen. He would vote third- party and attempted with other Never Trumpers to organize a third-party candidate choice.

One could describe his constant bashing of candidate Trump as a quest he took very seriously. Following the Republican Party August debate on Fox News, Erickson disinvited Trump from a RedState gathering held in Atlanta. Trump had counter punched, Kelly’s nasty set up question accusing him of misogynistic tendencies by describing her appearance as she pounced this way,” blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her wherever.” Trump clarified he was referring to a fuming state of being like bleeding from the eyes, ears, and nose. Erickson stated Trump’s remarks about the host of the debate, Megyn Kelly, was “a bridge too far” and that even “blunt talkers and unprofessional politicians should not cross certain lines including decency.

However, in 2013 Erickson was criticized for saying in an interview on Fox Business Network that males dominate females in the “natural world,” and it was only “science” for men to be the breadwinners for their family. He was accused of misogyny. This video is the fall out of that above statement.

This” conservative” juggernaut with the gift for gab, if the gabbing was with liberals and against Trump, stayed the course after the President assumed office. Erickson announced he was leaving RedState in 2015 and started showing up on liberal platforms everywhere. In 2017, while trying to get a new blog up and gaining traffic, he announced he knew who leaked Trump’s intelligence conversation with Russia and indicated the presidents sloppy spilling national security issues with Russia was far worse than reported.

Here is CNN Erin Burnette, interviewing Erickson in 2018 as he claims to have had contact with an unnamed congressman who rang the alarm on the “Forest Gump President .” Towards the end of the interview, the host even questions if this was all made up, and Erickson is using his own words to describe Trump.

But the Right Wire Report’s most favorite example of the rank hypocrisy frequently on display was this. Erickson suddenly did an about-face, and on Feb,11,2019, he informed the world he would now be endorsing President Donald J.Trump for 2020! You can read his missive here. Ready for it … In the same year, just months earlier, Erickson slinked onto the set of Real Time with Bill Maher and said this when asked by the pit of vipers on the left why so many Republicans excused Rep. Steve King’s racism. Further, Maher specifically asks Erickson to explain what Maher sees as so many Republicans acting like King. This is what Erickson chose to reply:

It is symptomatic of this presidential administration, making people feel comfortable being assholes when they did not necessarily feel open and comfortable doing so in the past.”

Are you worn out from our stroll yet? So this is the man, who in his own descriptions of others, now feels too comfy enough being an asshole to the President now by writing the following letter:

Mr. President:

You have been figured out by the Democrats. It has been a strange thing to see these past few years. You have had the ability to steer the conversation however, you wanted it to go. By taking to Twitter, you could get the entire media herd to chase in the direction you wanted, keep them discombobulated, and make their reporting incoherent. Often, you led them into mistaken reporting in their rush to be first instead of right and then used their bad reporting to discredit them. It has been something to watch.

But somewhere along the way, in these past few months of COVID-19, etc. the press turned this on you. Now, they are able to direct you where they want you to go, and they want you to go nowhere. You are literally throwing punches in so many directions that your messaging is incoherent, and you are off-balance.

You’ve also settled on some outdated messaging. “Law & Order President” has been done before. For the younger of the two presidential candidates, your branding right now is the most dating with a message like that.

Here’s the thing — the Mattis piece, the riots, the protests, the polling, etc. they are all distractions. Every single thing right now is a distraction, and the press is using those distractions to distract you. You have the pieces of a compelling message, but the distractions are preventing you from being consistent.

I have a suggestion.

The last time a President won the election while losing the popular vote and then riding to a popular election mandate for a second term, George W. Bush had consistent messaging and was laser-focused on that message. In 2000, it was “help is on the way.” If anyone asked him a question, he’d always give a variation of “help is on the way.” It was an impressive message discipline. It worked in 2000, and he repackaged it in 2004 for more success, coupling it with portraying John Kerry as a flip-flopper.

The thing that is frustrating a lot of Republicans right now is that your message seems to change on a near-daily basis. Nobody can keep up. Some have given up. But there is a way for you to get out your “law and order” message while also being able to use it against Biden.

Dive into the polling, and the underlying concern is the same. Over 70% of Americans are worried about the economy. They want the guy who can get the economy rebooted to be the guy who wins. The polling also shows most of them think you have a better shot at it than Biden. But you’re team is too distracted in messaging. So focus on this. Be the President who will “keep people safe and get them back to work.”

When the press asks you what to do in the George Floyd situation, you respond that it was terrible, and Joe Biden backed the policies that caused that situation, but you’re working to keep people safe and get them back to work.

When the press asks you about your response to the riots, you tell them local Democrats are failing to keep people safe and put them back to work, but you are going to keep them safe and put them back to work.

When the press asks you about the viral spread, you point out Democrats didn’t want people going to church, but let them into the streets to spread the virus because they know an economic rebound will help you. They don’t want to keep people safe or send them back to work, but you do.

Every single message can go back to that – you will keep people safe and get them back to work.

You need a focused message. This one contrasts perfectly with Joe Biden.

Biden spent 40 years in Washington and helped write the laws the police have used to destroy the black community. You will keep the black community safe and get them back to work. Joe Biden was Vice President for eight years and never did anything to really help the black community. You’ll keep them safe and put them back to work.

The Democrats don’t want to end shelter-in-place but will let Antifa destroy businesses. You want to put people back to work, and you want to keep them safe. It is an easy message to apply to any situation.

China? We are too dependent on drugs and goods from China. You want to keep people safe and put them back to work in America, so you want to advocate policies to make us less dependent on China in ways that create manufacturing jobs in America.

Keep your eye on the prize, Mr. President. Americans are ready to get back to work. You need to be advocating policies that do what? Keep people safe and put them back to work.

Focus, Mr. President. You know, and I know the American people do not have a long attention span. We are in June. The election is not till November. You get the economy going again and keep people safe, and you will win re-election. If you keep fighting in every direction, throwing undisciplined punches, and responding to every provocation and the Democrats are going to keep you off balance and usher you out of office.

Everything right now is a distraction. The economy is the focus. Those voters in the suburbs who don’t like you? They love their 401(K), and if you get it growing, they don’t have to like you, but they’ll vote for you because you kept them safe and got them back to work.

Sincerely yours,

Erick Erickson

Right Wire Report is certain that the Campaign team that beat a Clinton Dynasty and allied media has been waiting on bended knee for their game plan from Erickson. Who would have thought running on a theme of a strong economy might work? After all, Trump’s first term ignored this issue, and Americans polled showed they do not trust Trump on this matter? Oops there, Erick looks like, before the COVID Crisis, Americans polled trusted Trump with the economy and gave him credit for the dramatic turnaround after Obama. Oh, and presently, polling reveals Americans still do. Any claim Trump’s messaging on the economy has been distracted or muddled is absurd and false.

Erickson implores the President to focus on “Be the President who will keep people safe and get them back to work.” Where does Eric get his information from CNN and MSNBC? The President and his team have been beyond disciplined on those two points. Every speech he gives, every scrum, every policy announcement, and so forth. Keep people safe, Erick? Really? You need to get your ears checked and additionally determine if you have auditory processing deficits. No president in my lifetime has both informed citizens on economic issues and safety, as well as ACTED on those policy initiates with positive results. Frankly, your straw man is offensive and typically a leftist fall back position.

Then you tell the President what he should say to reporters when asked about Floyd’s death? Who do you think you are? And why are you not acutely aware the President has been saying exactly what you instructed him to do for the last eight days, on twitter, in speeches, and interviews. The virus comments – again, where have you been hiding your head the last month? Rhetorical do not answer that. Maybe you should start reading the man’s tweets and listening to his statements because you clearly do not know what he has said or done. Here is an easy way to read them – even a child could keep up.

The President of the United States has been slamming governors for continuing lockdowns and designated Antifa as a domestic terrorist group. AG Barr has given two press conferences on the subject and set up investigative teams for possible prosecutions. Do you have any concept of how daft you appear when you attempt to lecture this President on handling China, our dependency, and bringing back manufacturing to the USA? Again, get your backside off Morning Joe’s couch and apply due diligence before you write such a presumptive letter like this one. You were telling the President paragraph after paragraph to focus while writing an alternative universe of facts to support your instruction. That depth of disconnect is just plain weird. Every single edict has already been ongoing and firm at hand.

Seriously, it takes less than 10 minutes on Twitter and YouTube to find out Trump’s cogent and clear messaging for why Americans should re-elect him in November.

Right Wire Report freely admits this article is heavy on disdain, and dare we say snark. But in the words of Brett Butler – “Frankly, my dear, I don’t give a damn.” For far too long, those in the Conservative movement have cajoled and coddled and excused the enemies from within. No longer! John McCain or Mitt Romney could have written this letter, neither men conservative or intellectually honest, and Dhimmi’s to the left in practice. Eric Erickson is no different.

"The simple step of a courageous individual is to not take part in the lie. One word of truth outweighs the world." Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn

I was born and raised in the enigma known as "The Big Easy." There, rooted along the banks of the great Mississippi River between the creeping bayou and Lake Pontchartrain, I was conscripted on all things pertaining to human nature.  I am the quintessential southern woman, that is to say, I defy most could never accurately define what that label truly represents.  Brined below sea level where one respects; the haunts lingering about, the force of storm surge, the ethos of Mardi Gras, and the sanctity of generational family-I know what it is to belong to an organically diverse culture.

Early on in life, my career path serpentined and led to brief stints of living varied experiences as I indulged my passions for painting, musical theater, and the culinary arts. My young experiences evolved my purpose and honed my intuitive skills and I became a Medical Professional specializing in mental health with a focus on child/adolescent needs. After living decades in NOLA, and after hurricane  Katrina unearthed the realities of modern-day inner cities, I made the pivotal decision to relocate to where my family and I spent our summers in a quest to find security and civility in my life.

High up on one of the "grandfather mountains" I now perch in a Smoky mountain community in East Tennessee. Although, I would not trade my formative years in Louisiana, unfortunately,  that era of  America  is  no longer obtainable in the times we live - changing course was the best decision "Evah!"

I am a warrior  for freedom and truth , steeped in my ancestral history ,I am constantly reminded that stillness and introspection expands the mind and heart to possess a more nuanced understanding of all things in our internal and external world. We are all destined to bash ourselves against the rotted cultural rocks of humanity's unraveling until we recognize that a shared moral tone is essential for a free society. A healthy culture is one comprised of many unique people who offer shading and depth to the experience of living, yet all choose to accept basic truths that bind us all together-a societal moral tone. Intolerance  , censorship, intersectionality, cancel culture, apathy ,and ignorance will only groom oppression and tyranny.  Critical thought, differentiation, and dissent is your individual right granted not by government -and must always be protected, championed, and defended.
