Ron DeSantis is one of the few Governors that have refused to buy into lockdowns. Because of that, Florida is doing better than almost any other state in the nation. So it isn’t surprising that MSNBC just smeared him with a ridiculous racist lie you won’t believe.
Even some left-wing television hosts, like Bill Maher have come out to praise his leadership on the issue, which has made it difficult for the Left to attack the state on that issue. So instead, the Fake News Media is moving onto other issues to attack DeSantis and the state of Florida. And race-baiting MSNBC host Joy Reid jumped to her favorite attack, and accused DeSantis of being racist.
During a recent airing of her show The ReidOut, she discussed DeSantis signing a new anti-rioting bill that adds harsh penalties for anybody who riots in the state, and gives law-abiding citizens protections if they are forced to defend themselves from rioters.
Reid went on to cite NPR to misrepresent the bill in question. She continued,
“As NPR reports, it creates a new crime called mob intimidation. It requires anyone arrested at a protest be denied bail until their first court appearance, likely making for overnight jail stays. In other words, it would punish anyone at a peaceful protest that might be swept up alongside bad actors. Unbelievably, that law grants civil immunity to drivers who run cars through protesters if the protesters are blocking roads.”
Nobody who is peacefully protesting will be swept up for the actions of others. If there is a riot going on, and somebody refuses to comply with police, that’s when the trouble would occur. And the immunity for drivers who run through protesters blocking roads only applies when those “protesters” are being violent while blocking roadways.
Following that tirade, she then compared DeSantis to segregationist Governor George Wallace.
“This is directed at Black Lives Matter. It feels so George Wallace that I’m shocked that George
Wallace didn’t actually think of it back when he was governor of Alabama,” Reid said.
In reality, it doesn’t affect peaceful protesters in any way.
