The COVID Diaries, Part 2: How Democrats Conned Americans Into Surrendering Their Freedoms To The Political Mob

The Expansion of government power during a time of historical crisis is nothing new. It is often justified because the government has a responsibility to protect citizens in times of disaster, and sometimes this can only be achieved by limiting certain freedoms. However, once the government grabs extra power, it often uses it to affect policy long after the danger has passed.

For example, to counteract the devastating effects of The Great Depression, FDR’s New Deal allowed the government to take over a large part of the economy. As a result, conservative critics and historians argued, the commitment of both ordinary Americans and their leaders to individualism, free markets, and limited government suffered a blow from which the nation has never recovered.

FDR’s New Deal did not save the country from The Great Depression it prolonged the economic nightmare. The myth that the left has carefully curated through the decades is just that, a myth. World War II spending and recovery is what brought the country out of The Great Depression.

Yet the power grabs kept coming under the banner of ” We have to do this, and the government knows what is best for you .”

The Patriot Act was signed by President Bush after 9/11 to make it easier for the government to find terrorist cells in the US. The law authorized unprecedented government surveillance of American citizens, which is still being practiced to this day.

Likewise, the Covid pandemic gave the government a reason to suspend some of the Americans’ most cherished freedoms. Because the ability of the health care industry to handle the pandemic was questionable at the beginning and faced with a possibility of millions of people dead, the Trump administration was forced to institute these measures for a brief period, known as 45 days to flatten the curve, to contain the threat. The Trump administration urged states to lift lockdowns starting in April 2020. Despite this plea, many states, mostly blue states, chose to implement far more draconian measures past this period, which led to a devastating economic and social crisis.

By the early summer of 2020, however, far from being overwhelmed, many hospitals across the country stood empty. By that time it was clear that Covid was mainly dangerous to the elderly and the sick, which called for the more targeted approach instead of one size fits all type shutdowns. Nevertheless, the relentless media continued to push wall to wall Covid hysteria without providing any context – and the fear they created convinced most people that sacrificing their freedoms was the only way to stay alive.

Besides driving up the ratings, the media caught on that the Covid panic was majorly benefiting the Democrats. The media/Democrat cabal quickly saw Covid as a political opportunity to destroy President Trump in an election year.  This article discusses some ways of how this strategy was implemented, and how effective it was.

The “Never let a crisis go to waste ” Democrats soon figured out what a gift Covid was to their agenda of taking control over the lives of the American people through expanding centralized governance. Taking away freedoms Americans would normally never surrender, were sold as necessary adjustments in “unprecedented times.” To this day and for the foreseeable future, Americans will suffer because they bought into the Covid panic that the Media/Democrats manufactured.

The “free money” gravy train

In March 2020, U.S. lawmakers agreed on the passage of a $2 trillion stimulus bill called the CARES (Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security) Act to blunt the impact of an economic downturn caused by the global coronavirus pandemic. The bill included Direct payments to families of $1,200 per adult and $500 per child for households making up to $75,000 and expansion of unemployment benefits.

The Democrats passed a pork-filled, power-grabbing, liberal wish list, bill under the guise of pandemic relief which stalled in the Republican senate. Because giving out “free money” is seldom a winning proposition with Republicans, the second relief bill took a long time coming. Under pressure by the upcoming Georgia Senate run-off elections, Republicans capitulated to pass this monstrosity in December.

The HEROES act had a price tag of $900 billion.  While most of it was a laundry list of the Democrat pet projects, the package included $600 direct payments to Americans making under $100,000 and $300 in enhanced unemployment for the next ten weeks.

While initially providing relief for people suffering economically because of Covid shutdowns was necessary, for the Democrats, it was a gift that kept on giving. States with Democrat governance prolonged the economic shutdowns for political gain. This is the same playbook of creating the crisis so you can expand the government to claim a fix. The Democrats’ goal is to take control by limiting how much money you have. The “Covid relief” ruse gave them an excuse to impose punitive taxation – which they argue is needed to pay for handouts. Now, they continue to rack up massive debts paving way for historic tax hikes.

In March, alleged President Biden signed An American Rescue Plan. The 1.9 trillion dollars was an epic power grab which included:

  • $1,400 direct payments for people making under $75,000
  • Extension of unemployment benefits
  • Large tax credits
  • Health insurance subsidies

Almost the entire bill was non-urgent spending non-related to Covid.

Continuing on his path to economic suicide, alleged President Biden recently unveiled a $2 trillion “infrastructure plan.”  Here are the handouts included in this bill:

  • A $20 billion project aimed at “redressing historic iniquities,” also known as giving people free money
  • 400 billion for policies that address so-called “care infrastructure,” also known as giving people more free money
  • $213 billion “Affordable and sustainable places to live,” also known as giving people free housing.

Read more about this cynical play for unchecked power here.

In his first Address to Congress, the alleged President Biden unveiled even more free stuff: the American Families Act. The new 1.8 trillion dollar assault includes:

  • Free child care and universal pre-K
  • Free community college
  • Paid family and medical leave
  • Obamacare subsidies

The Democrats’ answer to “how to pay for this?” is as predictable as Jen Psaki’s “circle back” response: “tax the rich.”

That is a lie, and they know it. Tax cuts – not tax hikes – are a way to increase tax revenue. President Trump’s “tax cuts for the rich” benefitted the economy enormously, producing more tax money for the government than ever before. While punitive taxation will never pay for the massive handouts, that gives the Democrats power over how much money you have. The middle class will harbor the burden of these tax hikes no matter how many times Biden lies and says they will not.

Massive tax hikes will likely cause the economy to crash. But before that happens, a segment of the population that bought into the subsidy gravy train will cheer the Democrats on – until the economy inevitably crumbles, ending up in Armageddon of socialist utopia.

There is no end in sight for the Democrat’s ambition to transform the Republic into a totalitarian’s dream. The HR.1 act if passed into law would nationalize elections and codify voting fraud.

Then there is the classic bait and switch with the Pro Act and Equity Act, each further solidifying total Democrat power for the future.

The “filtering out misinformation” misdirection

Freedom of speech has always been a major linchpin of Americans’ freedoms. As an essential constitutional right, the Supreme Court has upheld this sacred tenet in the past when liberals would try to water it down. Until recently, aside from the woke community mainly residing on college campuses, few Americans would ever support restricting freedom of speech. Even though this right was seriously infringed upon by Big Tech giants over the last couple of years, that policy was never popular, and the Big Tech totalitarians were constantly under fire for censorship. However, the manufactured Covid Crisis allowed them to finally get the public on board. The censorship idea was sold under the guise of filtering out “misinformation” to protect “public health.”

Lester Holt summarized it perfectly with his “fairness is overrated” speech. Mr. Holt opined that “providing an open platform for misinformation in matters of public health can be quite dangerous.” Who can be against filtering out “misinformation” to save lives? Sounds like a great plan. Except that we were never told who were the experts deciding what “misinformation” is. Could that be:

Nope.  None of the above.  The ultimate arbiters of reliability of medical information turned out to be Lester Holt and his crew.  It was Big Tech giants and the mainstream media – who were operating at the behest of the Democrat party.  And not just in matters of “public health.”

“The Office of Election Cybersecurity in the California Secretary of State’s office monitored and tracked social media posts, decided if they were misinformation, stored the posts in an internal database coded by threat level, and on 31 different occasions requested posts be removed. In 24 cases, the social media companies agreed and either took down the posts or flagged them as misinformation.”

Now mainstream media and Big Tech are continuing to use the “misinformation” label and propaganda to curtail freedom of speech in a way that has never before been practiced in American society. Because social media giants are not a part of the government, they are not bound by Constitutional limitations. However, it has now been proven beyond a reasonable doubt that the media operates at the behest of the Democrat party. Only when collusion between social media companies and the government is established in court, will the totalitarian suppression of dissenting voices finally be addressed in a serious way.

The “for the people” vote manipulation

Before Covid started, the strong economy provided a guarantee for President Trump’s reelection. “The danger of in-person voting because of Covid,” however, gave the Democrats an excuse to manipulate the election system, providing the ultimate “insurance policy” for their power grab. The goal was to collect a record number of ballots by means of ballot harvesting and universal mail-in vote, making illegal voting easy, and ballot verification extremely difficult.

Republicans, mistakenly, did not understand the danger. They allowed multiple states’ changes to their election laws, some in unconstitutional ways, to go unchallenged – and that terrible mistake cost President Trump re-election.

Once the election was called for Joe Biden by the dishonest media, it was easy to declare every attempt to challenge the result “an assault on democracy.”  There was never a chance that any court would step in and interfere, once the result was announced.  The Democrats knew that – Republicans did not.

Now that the election manipulation blueprint has been established, the Democrats are going to continue using it to keep their power. The above mentioned and shameful H.R.1 bill is an attempt to institutionalize election fraud by:

  • Seizing the authority of states to regulate voter registration and the voting process by forcing states to implement early voting, automatic voter registration, same-day registration, online voter registration, and no-fault absentee balloting.
  • Making it easier to commit fraud and promote chaos at the polls through same-day registration, as election officials would have no time to verify the accuracy of voter registration information and the eligibility of an individual to vote
  • Degrading the accuracy of registration lists by requiring states to automatically register all individuals (as opposed to “citizens”) from state and federal databases. This would register large numbers of ineligible voters.
  • Mandating no-fault absentee ballots, which are the tool of choice for vote thieves. It would ban witness signature or notarization requirements for absentee ballots; force states to accept absentee ballots received up to 10 days after Election Day.
  • Preventing election officials from checking the eligibility and qualifications of voters and removing ineligible voters.

Covid gave the Democrats an opportunity to push election reforms that will legitimize fraud. The Supreme Court will eventually have to step in and restore the States’ constitutional rights to run their elections. Do Americans trust The Supreme Court?

The age of the oligarchy

Despite what Brian Stelter tells you, the most effective means of protecting American democracy is not shutting down dissenting opinions. It’s free-market capitalism. Capitalist countries are never ruled by tyrants. The fastest way to impose socialism is through limiting competition and concentrating power in hands of few large corporations. These corporations can be either infiltrated or indirectly controlled by the government.

And that’s why monopolies pose a huge threat. They can severely limit your freedom. Amazon can dictate what you can and cannot buy. Facebook and Twitter can restrict the information you have access to. Simon and Schuster can effectively make books disappear. A small number of Big Tech giants can collude to erase their less powerful competitors. Your freedom as a consumer can be impeded by a small number of huge retailers dropping the sales of products by persona non grata. Monopolies ruin the free market, thus limiting freedom.

During the Covid pandemic, the government forcefully shut down millions of businesses across the country. Since then, many of the businesses have closed, further limiting freedom of choice for Americans. Closing local businesses led to skyrocketing profits for huge corporations like Amazon, Facebook, Home Depot, and big pharma giants. While millions of people lost their livelihoods, the world’s richest people became richer.

In return, the big corporations are now carrying out the progressive agenda of the Biden administration. Instead of donating any of the profits to restore small businesses they destroyed, the woke billionaires are pumping millions into the Black Lives Matter and other terrorist groups carrying out riots across the country.  The top executives of some of the world’s largest corporations are now actively advocating for policies beneficial to the current administration.

To make matters worse, corporations now control mainstream media. Disney owns The View; AT&T owns CNN; Comcast owns NBC News. Corporations carrying out government agendas now control the information that you get. This symbiotic relationship between the government and the oligarchy is destroying Americans’ freedom before our eyes.

Unfortunately, it is an uphill battle for traditional Americans, because we are dependent on the products that the oligarchy produces. Facebook and Twitter are a lot more efficient and reliable than small social media platforms like Parler and Gab. Amazon can’t be beaten in speed and convenience. It’s hard to wean yourself from a daily glass of Coke. Until smart entrepreneurs discover the potential of the conservative market and start actively targeting it by creating a quality product, the American public will be at the mercy of the woke corporations promoting government policy.

The pandemic has been a disaster of historic proportions. Besides costing hundreds of thousands of lives, it also paved the way for the totalitarian regime to take over and usher in a one-party power grab that has never before been attempted successfully. President Trump may have saved millions of lives by managing the development of the vaccines, but he could not protect us from surrendering our rights, and we are all now suffering because we did so.

Do you see “the Sting” yet? The con is real.

Tatyana Larina comes from my favorite work of poetry.  And that's the only time you'll see me quoting Wikipedia as a source.

I came to the US in 1991, lived in Bay Area for 30 years, and I have a Computer Science degree.  I worked in software industry for several years, later switching to a career of a full time mom, and I never looked back.  I am currently a resident of Florida.

In my younger days, I wasn’t a conservative. That is not to say that I was ever a liberal – I was not anything at all. I had no idea that there were such concepts as “conservative” and “liberal”. I did not pay attention to politics at all, and the most political knowledge you would get out of me would be who the US President was, and even for that you had to catch me on the right day.

My first introduction to politics was during the second Israeli intifada in 2002. Unspeakable violence erupted in Israel. Every day dozens of people were killed. Even though I didn’t follow politics, that deeply affected me. I felt sad, frustrated, and powerless. And one night, I happened to stumble on an MSNBC program called “Alan Keyes is making sense.” He was talking passionately about Israel and the violence, and he addressed my feelings very well.  Since that evening, I turned on Alan Keyes every night, and by his commentary he was able to take away some of the frustration and anger that I had. It was like a nightly therapy session.

Feeling intrigued after watching Alan Keyes, I wondered what else MSNBC had in store. I switched through the channels, and low and behold, I found Scarborough Country. Right off, Joe Scarborough wasn’t what he is today at all. He was a solid conservative (as I now understand), making common sense conservative points. I found him interesting and engaging. Opposing liberalism had not entered my mind at that time. I still didn’t know anything about liberalism. It was just the things he said sounded very common sense and worthwhile to me. Imagine that at some point, MSNBC had a conservative host on the air. Crazy times, ha?

Exploring my new political universe, I switched through more channels, and one night I found FOX. O’Reilly Factor was on. From the very first night, I was hooked. I abandoned Scarborough. O’Reilly was not just common sense – he was aggressive, and he was a fighter. He was Scarborough on steroids. He wasn’t just talking – he was taking on what he thought to be wrong and unjust. Ever since the first time, and until untimely end of Bill’s FOX career, I don’t think I ever missed one Factor.

For forming my political views, and my ability to formulate them, I have to give special credit to three people: Charles Krauthammer, Bill O’Reilly, and Greg Guttfeld.  To Charles - philosophy.  To Bill - realistic and pragmatic approach to politics.  To Greg - realization that a good joke will change more minds than a long lecture.

And for everything else, thanks to my family.
